A little girl was raised by monsters. Her father had claws like fingers and daggers like nails. Her mother had fangs and knives like lips. Both shared silver horns and skin with red scales. She was locked in a house with grotesque-looking things. But it was only when she looked in the mirror that she was afraid. She ran to her animal parents and their touch. While it was comforting, it still hurt. This was because she didn’t know the alternative. Her parents tried to mold her into one of them, but without success. So she was thrown into the street. This was the first time she saw others like her, but she wanted to flee. She needed the monsters to feel complete. It is sad that when a sweet girl is surrounded by unpleasant things, it is her own beauty that she sees as hideous.
